Black Wrestla’ Recap 5/13

Raw

Bobby Lashley resumes his role as the Authority’s pawn. His affiliation with Baron Corbin was renewed to further the story with AJ Styles and Seth Rollins.

A Money in the Bank spot was on the line for Ricochet when he challenged Robert Roode. This will most likely set the table for something following the PPV but no definite sign that he will not win the ladder match.

The Kofi Kingston ride continues to impress as he participated on Raw yet again, and he also successfully defeated Daniel Bryan to retain his title.

SmackDown Live

We welcome Ember Moon back to action in a tag contest. She was removed from the action while Carmella caught the fade. Moon still has some work to do before her MITB appearance or else she’s going to be a filler participant in my eyes.

Kingston was in the main event for the second night in a row. The title was on the line in a triple treat match against Styles and Sami Zayn. Zayn put the champ over by delivering three Blue Thunder Bombs before taking a Trouble in Paradise.

NXT

The Black Girl Magic kicked off the broadcast with Mia Yim and Bianca Belair. Before I could regret that one of them had to win, Belair stole the win with a ponytail wrap to leverage her pin. I’ll take it as a win-win.

Impact! Wrestling

Moose was granted a weekly appearance, which is something to consider. Either way, the tag contest gave us little payoff as his partner is a member of another team already.

Apparently, Kiera Hogan is about to make a heel run. It works with the fiery aggression she brings to her matches. It will work.

The spot-fest of a fatal four-way tag match saw Rascalz never legally enter the match, but Dezmond Xavier hit his pre-break spot. Brett Brown jumped in early as a fresh face; that was about it because this ended rather quickly.

Eight-man spot-fests must have been the theme because the main event was another. The not-so-super powers of Willie Mack, Rich Swann, Tommy Dreamer and Fallah Bahh took the fight to oVe. Somehow, I thought Swann dropped the title to Sami Callahan.

Ring of Honor

When you need a fall guy for a multi-team match, Cheeseburger is a good pick. I’m not sure why he was added to the match with Coast 2 Coast and the Bouncers. There is already tension between the teams without Cheese and Nova.

Shane Taylor put on a show of dominance against Bandido. The post match happenings put a smile on my face when Taylor and Bully Rae questioned one another as to who invited the Soldiers of Savagery.
